About the AACH
The American Academy of Medical Hypnoanalysts (AAMH) was formed in 1974. Eight medical doctors gathered to discuss creating a new professional group solely to educate others about using hypnoanalysis, an exciting form of psychotherapy. Initially, only medical doctors were allowed membership.
Once hypnoanalysis was established as an effective form of psychotherapy, a second membership category was created for PhDs. In 1978, master’s level therapists were added as a membership category. In 1990, a growing sense of inclusiveness of membership categories led to equality of status based on clinical acumen rather than an artificial hierarchy of degree credentials.
Currently AACH has members from a range of clinical professions including those with LCSW/LICSW, LCPC, LMFT credentials. A master’s degree or above in a counseling/psychotherapy discipline is required for our training and membership.
Interest in hypnosis is growing again due to advances in contemporary neuroscientific understanding and clinical research. Neuroscience research has renewed interest in hypnosis and how it integrates the mind-body-spirit connection for core healing and transformation.
The AACH is committed to upholding the highest ethical standards in mental health training and mentorship.
We inspire and train qualified professionals in the use of hypnoanalysis, specifically the AACH Protocol of Clinical Hypnoanalysis, to enhance their practices. Our goal is to increase the number of trained professionals, reducing psychological and physiological suffering for clients.
We aim to raise awareness for hypnoanalysis as a leading therapeutic choice, offering a directory of certified practitioners for the public and professionals.
